Under your proposed framework would encyclopedias need permission from the subjects of their biographical entries in order to include those entries?


If the information is already publicly known, maybe that's ok?


It's mostly the act of publishing information somewhere that makes it publicly known. If you haven't personally published it, it's personal until someone else publishes it.


That's a fair point.

In places where there are reasonable privacy protections, there is a distinction made between regular people and public figures. Perhaps public figures get weaker protections under this proposal as well?
