The fact is that every year mobile data consumption is increasing significantly and it is expected to continue this trend. I do not have an opinion on whether more data equals better user experience.

Without knowing the context of your set up, I can only guess. I would say that not that many people use 3G in your area, so you used an uncongested cell.
