I think you're probably right that it's better to call this a prediction rather than evidence, but there's no consensus on this. Right now I don't think it's reasonable to say this article is making a mistake using the term in this way. It's not wrong. Maybe it should be? Sure.

I disagree, because I think the ordinary lay person takes "evidence" to mean what I said and would agree that a computer simulation is not evidence. And this article is supposed to be for the ordinary lay person.


If HN can't agree, I see no reason to suppose all lay people would unite as one.
