Linus Sebastian takes a tour of the framework ODM and there's a brief aside about how, because QA is done via fully assembled machines, the DIY laptops start off as fully assembled and then are manually disassembled by a human so you get the feeling of accomplishment of putting the same components back in the case.

Thought it was a funny aside and revealing of the realities of manufacturing not reflecting our mental models very well.

The especially confusing bit here is that the DIY version costs considerably less than the fully assembled one. That extra step to disassemble the laptop obviously costs money, so do they just factor that into the cost somehow?

Will it ever die this cringy trend of “content creators” with that silly face in the thumbnail?! Why would I care about your reaction let alone shoving it into my face.

I’ve seen several talking about how they hate doing it, but the results speak for themselves. It garners more clicks, so they continue doing it.
