I think the connection to facebook was the greatest obstacle. No one wanted them to have any kind of control or trusted them.


There's also the fact that cryptocurrency as a whole is relatively unpopular. Apple could invent their own cryptocurrency tomorrow, and still there would be nobody that actually cares.


Even if we ignore that Bitcoin is a greater-fool scam that requires ever increasing numbers of rubes buying in, the bitcoin network can only manage 7 transactions per second.

You couldn't run a small town on bitcoin, nevermind the globe.
